Financing for Peacebuilding for Youth

Significant progress has been made on the youth, peace and security agenda and in 2020, a new action-oriented Security Council resolution was passed. This panel discussion will focus on investing in capacities, agency and leadership of young women and men, to strengthen multilateralism, and the critical challenge of financing for peacebuilding.

The Peacebuilding Fund supports young people’s contributions to peacebuilding at the local and national levels through the annual Youth Promotion Initiative (YPI); to date, the largest dedicated funding measure in support of youth, peace and security, which complements the Gender Promotion Initiative (GPI) – two funding windows promoting inclusive peacebuilding.

Why is investing in youth so critically important and how can it be done better? What more can we do to encourage financing for peacebuilding? How do we support global, regional and national movements, driven by young women and men in support of more just and peaceful societies?
