How to Build A New Climate for Peace

Globally we are dealing with polycrisis, heightened polarisation and declining social cohesion, and massive investments in defence and securitised approaches. In this context, this side event will discuss the multidimensional prospects and concrete opportunities to build a more robust climate to prioritise and centre conflict prevention and peacebuilding, including how to reframe the narrative to more effectively collectively champion a peacebuilding approach. This side-event will link to relevant policy dialogue processes currently taking place [e.g. New Agenda for Peace and Summit of the Future]. The event will be shaped via lightning pitches by selected speakers and then engage in a davos style conversation with opportunities for direct interaction with the audience. The stellar line-up of speakers will include delegates from the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding who are in Berlin for their Annual Conference and the FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum.
