Anette Hoffmann is a Senior Research Fellow at the Conflict Research Unit (CRU) of the Netherlands Institute of International Relations. Her work focuses on the interaction between economic and political drivers of conflict. She is particularly interested in the conditions under which private sector actors and economic incentives can contribute to prompt and shape transitions towards more inclusive and resilient political settlements in general. Anette spent over ten years working in Sudan, South Sudan, and Ethiopia as a researcher and adviser on conflict-sensitive private sector development in fragile settings, including among others for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
