Rola Roukbi is a Syrian feminist leader, human rights defender, and expert in gender equality, democratic governance, and organizational development. With more than 35 years of leadership experience, she has worked to advance women’s rights, peacebuilding, democratic participation, and institutional transformation across Syria and Lebanon. Since 2017, she has served as Country Director of Women Now for Development in Lebanon.

Rola is a founding member of several Syrian feminist movements and participated in the Geneva II parallel peace negotiations. She is also a former member of the Syrian Constitutional Committee. Her work combines strategic leadership with expertise in feminist policy development, institutional strengthening, research, and international advocacy.

She was awarded the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the French Government for her contributions.
