Zorgh Madi

Tamazight Women’s Movement, Libya

Zorgh Madi is the co-founder of Tamazight Women’s Movement (TWM). TWM is the Libyan member in the Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding. Zorgh Madi is passionate about promoting gender equality and peace processes in Libya. Zorgh was born and raised in Libya. She studied Political Science and Economics. As a Program Manager at the TWM Organisation and a Women’s Empowerment Assistant at the International Youth Foundation, she is responsible for managing programs and projects that are implemented in both organizations.

Through her work, she launched a campaign that promotes peace between Indigenous people and Arabs in Libya. As an advocate, Zorgh is proud to be the first person to include the gender perspective in the Libyan education system. Zorgh was inspired to become an advocate by her grandmother, who was one of the first women to attend school in Libya. In her free time, Zorgh enjoys playing the guitar and attending book clubs.

The FriEnt Peacebuilding Forum is a series of events on current and overarching challenges and trends in peacebuilding. With the Peacebuilding Forum, we want to provide future-oriented impulses for the development of peacebuilding and strengthen the visibility and importance of the policy field in its entirety.
