Julio Solórzano-Foppa was born in Mexico, son of Guatemalan poet and feminist Alaíde Foppa and former President of Guatemala Juan José Arévalo, and adopted by Alfonso Solórzano.
Currently Solórzano-Foppa is the Director of Memorial para la Concordia in Guatemala, running the projects Memoria Virtual Guatemala, Mapeo de la Memoria and the Youth Women Symphony Orchestra and Chorus “Alaíde Foppa”. All projects linked to the recovery of the historical memory of the Internal Armed Conflict in Guatemala (1960-1996). Memorial para la Concordia develops its programs in different regions of the country and through its digital platforms with 45 organizations of Human Rights, Historical Memory, Indigenous People, Women´s Rights emphazising in the work with young people.
