Theophilus Ekpon

Centre for Sustainable Development and Education in Africa (CSDEA), Nigeria

Theophilus Ekpon is the Executive Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development and Education in Africa (CSDEA) that is based in Abuja. Prior to this position, he worked for the United Nations in New York and Nigeria, and consulted on development and peacebuilding issues for various government agencies in Nigeria. Mr Ekpon is the immediate past Chair of the Executive Committee of the Hague based Global Civil Society Platform for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (CSPPS), where he also serves as an Executive Committee member, and CSPPS Focal Point for Nigeria.

He is a co-Chair of the Federal Government of Nigeria Steering Committee on the International Dialogue for Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS) and its New Deal for Engagement in Fragile and Conflict Affected States. As a mediator, Mr Ekpon has worked with Inmedio Institute, Berlin and other partners to develop the Governance and Dialogue Program where local government officials in Nigeria make use of reflective dialogue to work with their constituents and stakeholders to ensure transparency and inclusivity in governance. Theophilus Ekpon is a Fellow of the Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs, United States International University.
