Viktoria Bechstein was born in Frankfurt Main, Germany. During her studies in Political Science and Francophone Literature at Goethe University Frankfurt she set a focus on international relations, the MENA region and francophone Africa. She gained practical experience in media, different NGOs and as a trainee at the German development cooperation GIZ in Cotonou, Benin. In 2014, she completed her master’s degree in European Interdisciplinary Studies at College of Europe in Warsaw, Poland. She then worked as a project manager on European matters at the Progressive Center, a Berlin-based think tank. In 2016 she joined the German Federal Foreign Office within the newly established Directorate-General for Crisis Prevention, Stabilization, Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Assistance. As policy officer within the Policy & Strategies Division she deals with international crisis management and strategic/conceptual approaches to crisis prevention, stabilisation and peacebuilding.
